Experience the Delight of Denmark

Denmark is a country to enjoy in all seasons.

From the shores of the Jutland coasts to the historical capital of Copenhagen, your family will find many experiences to enjoy. Whether it is an outdoor adventure or an encounter with old world culture, Denmark has it all.

Many people begin their time in Denmark with a visit to the capital city of Copenhagen. If you are looking for some insight into European history, you will want to visit Kronburg Castle, the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet or, if you want to see modern royalty, come to Christiansborg Palace, home of the Danish parliament and reception rooms for the queen.

Family fun can be found in the famous Tivoli amusement park and Bakken, the world’s oldest fairgrounds and amusement park. Children will want to visit the harbor and see the statue of the Little Mermaid as she gazes out into the sea. Finally, Copenhagen is home to many museums including the National Museum of Denmark, the Experiementarium science museum and the Copenhagen Zoo.

Another important city is Billund, on the Jutland Peninsula. For the family, Billund has the Billund Zoo, the Aquadome indoor water park and Winter World Lalandia, where it is winter all year long. Perhaps most importantly, this city is home to the original LEGOLAND, a theme park that celebrates the Danish building blocks known around the world. The building theme continues with a slow walk through the statues at Skulpturpark Billund.

Leaving the cities, Denmark is a land of many outdoor adventures. At the Haderslev Jaegersborg Deer Park, you can enjoy 40 hectares of outdoor hiking and close encounters with over 200 deer. The Jutland Peninsula is known for its beautiful coasts, especially the Wadden Sea National Park. Some common coastal adventures include hunting for amber and fossils on the North Sea beaches.

The Danish people love to be outdoors, and Denmark is home to many parks and forests. Two popular family activities here are biking and geocaching. Most parks and national forests have extensive mountain biking trails. Geocaching is a modern treasure hunt where hidden treasures can be found using satellite coordinates on a mobile phone.

When the day is done, you will want to return to your holiday home in Denmark to enjoy the Danish virtue known as hygge. This word is sometimes translated as warm togetherness or coziness. For Danes, sometimes it is enough for a family just to be together, reading books or enjoying a warm drink by the fire place. After all your adventures in Denmark, it will feel good to slow down and spend some quiet time together.

Dronninglund Cup is Denmark’s largest, international handball tournament for youth teams, taking place in week 28. Thousands of young handball players from all over the world here have the chance of meeting each other in an exciting tournament with lots of sporting challenges as well as several leisure activities. Dronninglund Cup is ideal for handball clubs that - besides handball – appreciate SOLIDARITY, WELL-BEING, COMFORT and SERVICE. Dronninglund Cup is for everyone!
